How to Axel Slide
In order to properly perform many of Lilica's moves and combos, being able to accurately buffer in the axel slide inputs is a must. Lilica's axel slide moves can be done either on their own or linked together through other ones.
For example, you want to use the speed blade (236+B) without having to use the startup slides. You would need to first input the 236 motion (quarter circle forward) and then press A or C followed immediately by B. You must hit the B button immediately AFTER hitting either A or C to get the speed blade to come out. Hitting both A or C and B at the same time will not get you this. The timing is tricky but becomes second nature after awhile.
Through out this guide, and more specifically the combos area, you will see something like: 236+A -> B or something similar. This is a notation for you to buffer in the B after the 236+A.
Keep in mind though, that is only necessary for getting the moves going. Afterwards, you will have to fully input each move if you wish to continue using Lilica's axel slide specials.
A brief example would be wanting to do a speed blade (236+B) directly into a heel cutter (236+C). After the speed blade, you will need to actually input the 236+C to get the heel cutter to come out instead of trying to buffer in the move.
Example: 236+A -> B, 236+C, ect.
How to Flash Step
Lilica has a special type of cancel special known as High Pressure (or Flash Step). The input for this move is A+C during an axel slide start up, in other words, 236 or 214+A/B/C -> A+C. However, as many people found out during the original Arcana Heart, thats not all you are capable of doing. Lilica's flash step allows her to cancel a normal move directly into either a dash, jump, special, or another normal move. Keep in mind however that some of Lilica's higher level combos and strategies make use of the flash step so don't feel too bad if you can't do it right the first few times or you occasionally mess up.
A new addition to Lilica's flash step came in the Sugoi! Arcana Heart 2 release in which her flash step after a forward axel slide start up moved her forward and actually hit the opponent. At first glance it may not seem all that useful, but in reality it is quite the opposite. During some combos, Lilica is actually able to pick opponents up off the ground with this move and super them. Or use this move to apply pressure, making the opponent have to act or constantly be stuck in block stun.
Because of the way Lilica's moveset operates, the flash step allowed for a larger variety of combos to be done. One thing that still applies is that some of Lilica's normals can be flash stepped without already being in an axel slide. 5B and 6B are prime targets for this and allow for an array of combos to be done in the corner and midscreen. 2B also works but seems better off in a pressure game.
In order to flash step a B attack, you would first input the B attack and if it hits or is blocked, input either 236 A+C to slide onto them or 214 A+C to immediately cancel the 5B or 2B and be able to input another attack. For the most part, the basis for her flash stepping from the original Arcana Heart still applies. You can loop multiple 5B->214 A+C together to create a longer string.
For example. You could use one of the start up combos 2A, 2B, 2C, 6D, 5A, 5B so that you are now left with a 5B available to flash step. Leading towards the combo looking like 2A, 2B, 2C, 6D, 5A, 5B -> 214 A+C. After you have flash stepped Lilica's 5B, you can either flash cancel the second 5B and dash forward inorder to repeat the 5A, [5B -> 214 A+C]. Or you can follow up the [5B -> 214 A+C] with a 5B -> Heel cutter (5B, 236+A->C).
Move List
Various info borrowed from Lastblade's guide on Mashharder.
Throws
A+D: Lilica's neutral throw acts as a launch.
4/6A+D: Lilica grabs the opponent and flips them over her onto the ground.
j.A+D: Same as ground version of 4/6 A+D.
Normal Moves
5A: Lilica's standard jab. Can be linked into itself and is used for some ground->air combos.
5B: Lilica uses a "sidekick" attack against her opponent. This can be followed by several moves. Generally leading to mixup games.
5C: A two part move similar to an "axekick". On counter hit, this will knock down opponents. Otherwise, it can lead into her
5E: Lilica's ground charge move. Similar in appearance to her 5B.
2A: Lilica's crouching jab attack. Can be linked into itself and can be used to clash some attacks and also leads into her standard ground combos.
2B: A crouching kick attack. Lilica positions herself close enough to the ground that some attacks, mainly arcana specials, will simply go over her. This attack leads into her ground combo and consists of 1 clash frame.
2C: Lilica's trip attack. Generally useful during combos and pressure games. Does leave her vulnerable to faster characters' attacks if blocked or whiffed.
2E: Lilica's launching charge move. As with her 2B and 2C moves, Lilica positions herself close to the ground for this attack. Unblockable in the air and has quick startup.
j.A: Similar to Lilica's 5A, this attack is generally only useful for combos and some pressure situations.
j.B: Similar to Lilica's 5B, this attack can however be countered by quicker/higher priority characters easily so use with caution if outside of a combo.
j.C: Lilica attacks with a diagonal kick downwards (about 45 degrees). Great for her pressure game and mix ups since it allows for a ground combo following the hit. However, on counter hit, this move does knock down.
j.E: Lilica attacks with a diagonal kick upwards (about 45 degrees). This move has 2 parts if clashed by an opponent. As with j.C, this is a great asset to her pressure game and leads into one of her more damaging ground combos without homing bar.
Command Normals
4/6+B Same as her 5B except that depending on the direction used, she moves slightly in that direction.
Special Moves
Tornado Edge: 236 + A/B/C ** Air ONLY **
after hit: 236 + A/B/C (Up to 2 times)
A = Upward kick
B = Middle kick
C = Downward kick
Axel Slide (Forward): 236 + A/B/C
Axel Slide (Backward): 214 + A/B/C
Air Twist: 214 + A/B/C ** Air ONLY - Acts as a throw but must connect first (Overhead) **. (S!AH2.6) The recovery on landing after whiff has been adjusted to match the recovery for 236X; counter hit state has been added until landing.
Axel Slide Continuations
Please see the "how to axel slide" section first if you are new to playing Lilica
Quick Step: 214 + A
Lilica leaps into the air. You can block and move afterwards.
Wall Step: 214 + B
Lilica leaps towards the far wall and springs off it.
Speed Blade: 236 + B
Lilica slides towards the opponent.
Heel Cutter: 236 + C
A leaping 5C attack, acts as an overhead. Available after Wall Step
Flash Step: A + C
Lilica's special cancel move. Forward Flash steps now continues forward and will hit the opponent, Backwards remains the same.
Rapid Turn: 214 + C
Lilica turns and skates in the opposite direction. During Axel slide startups
Screw Edge: 236 + A
Lilica uses a flip kick that can knock the opponent into the air slightly. Useful during her combos. During Axel slide or after Wall Step
Boomerang Gliding: 236 + B
Lilica skates along the ground towards her opponent, can be followed up with other continuations. After Wall Step
Super Moves
Hurricane Edge: 236 A+B (Available in air)
Lilica's standard and most useful super. Can be canceled during the super with an arcana attack or homing canceled to continue another combo. Only has 1 clash frame.
Cyclone Storm: 214 A+B
Lilica leaps towards the far wall and dives leg first towards the opponent, leading into an air barrage of attacks eventually leading in a knockdown. If blocked, Lilica simply bounces off the opponent and can do as she pleases in the air.
Night Stream: 421 A+B
A new super for Lilica, she leaps towards the opponent with a small shield infront of her and releases numerous bats at the opponent. This attack is safe so long as there is no attack already out or being processed. You may also change the direction of where Lilica heads by use of the stick or dpad.
Critical Heart
Cross Edge Typhoon: 61236 A+B
ONLY after 3 Axel slide moves! (Not including initial start up) EX: Axel slide (F) -> Speed blade -> Heel Cutter -> Screw Edge -> 61236 A+B.
Lilica leaps up into the air in a 45 degree angle. This attack guard crushes if blocked and has an interesting hit box. Lilica can hit the opponent with her Critical Heart even if the opponent is directly behind her.
Strategy
General Gameplay
Unlike a lot of the characters in S!AH2, Lilica is not going to be a quick and easy journey if your not already familiar with the game a bit. Her move set and strategies used in order to win aren't amongst the easiest but not exactly the hardest either. So don't feel to bad if you aren't getting everything right away.
Lilica has to get in close to her opponents, whether it be by axle type moves, arcana attacks, or dashing in. This won't always be easy but atleast Lilica does have quite a few ways to get in fast.
A good way to approach an opponent, but not too often because they'll catch on, is to use the different axle slide attacks such as speed blade (236+B) and heel cutters (236+C) initially and then immediately cancel the moves with 214+A. If timed correctly, Lilica will leap slightly over the enemy causing them to turn around. Giving you the chance to backwards air dash back to your original position and land an ambiguous cross up with j.C. If done properly, the j.C will either knock your opponent down due to a counter hit, or leave them open for a BnB combo.
Lilica has several good normal attacks for getting in on the opponent and applying pressure. j.A and j.B can be linked together in the air to create a quick 2-hit block string in the air. j.C can either knock down or allow for a BnB combo follow up. And j.E if done close to the opponent and near the ground will launch the opponent slightly into the air, giving you a chance for her j.E starting BnB.
Overall, you want to get Lilica into a position where she can be formless. Being able to act against her opponent based on what they do. If they insist on turtling, she has numerous was of creating cross ups. If they stay ontop of you, her 2A is quick enough to create an opportunity after a 6D to go on the offensive. The goal is to be flexable and stay on your toes, because one mess up by your opponent means a well placed 2A, 2B, j.C, j.A->j.B, j.E, or 2C nets your a free combo.
Arcana Evaluation
Lilica in S!AH2 can generally get by with using any arcana she wishes to a good degree. And while choosing an arcana that fits you best personally is completely fine, there are a few arcanas that are just better choices for her overall.
Preferred (ver 2.5)
Partinias
Widely considered to be Lilica's best arcana for most situations and match ups. Partinias itself doesn't give stat bonuses but it's attacks are what really allow Lilica to shine with this arcana. After several of Lilica's combos, the application of a laser (super or not) can quickly tack on a substantial amount of damage. Partinias' shield special and basic projectile are very useful overall.
Lightning
Lightning is still a decent choice for Lilica in S!AH2. Because Lilica will tend to be moving around the screen often enough either through use of her axle slides or dashes, the dashing lightning clash will come in handy against some characters. Lightning does have the ability to keep an opponent blocking with the application of the super or normal after either a knockdown or while Lilica is still in the air. The arcana's activation effect of an automatic clash while blocking will either get you into trouble or help you out.
Magnetism
The Magnetism arcana is an interesting choice for Lilica but still just as good. Not being able to backwards guard cancel may get you into problems occasionally but it shouldn't be a problem if you're keeping the opponent on block stun or unsure of where attacks are coming from with the 214214+E super. Which summons numerous articles of trash into the area. The 236236+E super which creates a large sphere infront of Lilica which hits multiple times and creates a vacuum effect is great for combo enders or resets.
Shadow (Gier)
Gier can add a new twist to Lilica's already interesting mix up game. After knockdowns Gier can be placed and held until you desire for it to attack while Lilica moves in from a different angle. Unlike AHF, Gier's standing and crouching E attacks fully charged now turn the opponent into a blob-like creature with a few features of the character. This is one of the more nasty tricks in the game as not everyone knows how to escape the trap that can begin from one charged E attack, and may just get killed by it.
Sin
The Sin arcana is a little bit different than the rest, since most of the moves it has won't get Lilica very far in a match unless you're constantly leading your opponent into the traps or spiking them. The power and defense bonus of this arcana can help her however and the arcana blast (C+E) can quickly turn the tide of battle if used right. The arcana blast's power increase is based upon how much life you have left (or so it seems).
